Algebra Curriculum
8th grade students taking Algebra I are required to take the Algebra I End-of-Instruction (EOI) test as well as the 8th grade OCCT. This class will focus on the Algebra I EOI but will also cover the 8th grade curriculum as well, You will find information about both the Alg. I EOI and the 8th grade OCCT below. Please click the links that will take you to the Oklahoma State Department of Education website where you will find all the information available for each test.
Algebra I taken at the 8th grade level is a high school transcripted class. This could possibly be your first high school credit, so please do everything in your power to make this a good one. A.C.E. Legislation states that three math credits much be taken in grades 9-12, so this Algebra class taken in 8th grade, while a high school credit, does not count toward this three math requirement. Be prepared that you will have a minimum of four math credits when you graduate from high school.....BUT......you should have FIVE math credits because you NEED to take a math class each year of high school to be fully prepared for college.
Algebra I Requirements--while this booklet is the 2010-2011 version, the criteria has not changed from last year to this year. So this is still valid information. As soon as the new booklet comes out, I will reassign the link.
